Baked Italian Sandwiches

Baked Italian Sandwiches

I got this idea from Mr. Food via Pinterest and have tried several different variations. Last week, I hit the sweet spot with this. I made 2 slightly different sandwiches since Mountain Man and I like different toppings. They both came out great!

  • 1 container reduced fat refrigerated crescent rolls
  • Quality deli turkey
  • Salami
  • Pepperoni
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • olive oil
  • Mozzarella fresca
  • 1 sliced vine tomato soaked in balsamic vinegar
  • Red pepper – sliced thin
  • Fresh basil

Mountain Mans sandwich – Turkey, salami, pepperoni, mozzarella, plain tomato, and red pepper

My sandwich – Turkey, salami, mozzarella, basil, balsamic tomato

Preheat the oven to 350

Chop garlic and let it soak in olive oil

For tomatoes – slice thin and place in a wide bowl with a thin layer of balsamic vinegar

Prep your meats, cheeses, herbs, and veggiesIMG_1602

Beat 1 egg in a small bowl

Unroll crescent roll dough. Separate into 4 rectangles (2 triangles each)??????????

Lay down 1 rectangle per sandwich in a greased pan (For 2 sandwiches – use a 9×13 pan

Layer starting with meats, then cheese, then veggies/herbsIMG_1608 IMG_1609

Brush some beaten egg over the veggies IMG_1615

Repeat step 5 and 6
Place the remaining rectangle over the top of your sandwich??????????

Brush the dough with the garlic olive oil

Cover with foil but make sure the foil does not touch dough – I use toothpicks in the top of the sandwiches to keep the foil tented up

Bake covered for 20 minutes

Baked uncovered for 20 minutes

  1. That looks and sounds amazing. Unable to buy anything resembling Pillsbury crescent roll dough where I live (Norway), but I might be able to make a from scratch version. Thanks for the idea!
