Ski Slopes Aren’t Just For Winter

Saturday morning, me and Mountain Man (MM) started the day by heading to one of our favorite breakfast joints: The Kitchen. On our way in, I noticed a piano out on the sidewalk in front of an instrument shop. There was a sign on it…. usually these signs say don’t touch and it always annoys me. If you’re going to display something that is clearly meant to be hands on, you should expect people to tinker! Mind you, it wasn’t a particularly nice piano, but it could have been an antique or something. At any rate, I was wrong:

This totally made my day.

After breakfast, we walked down to one of MM favorite stores. It’s a gun shop but he refers to it as an eclectic shit show.

And Boy is it ever! And yes they had guns…. LOTS of guns!

These were my favorite aren’t they purdy?

We decided to wander up to Crystal Mountain Ski Resort where Mountain Man was raised and his parents, younger sister, and cousin still reside. It’s always fun going up there. In the winter they have icicles that hang from their roof down to the ground and herds of elk and deer wandering around the less populated areas. Our plan was to ride up the gondola to the top and hike down. Hunting season is coming up and MM wanted to scout out the area.

IMG_1320First we picked up Conner, MM’s dad’s white shepherd/lab mix and Stella’s best friend. He loves riding the gondola…

Stella spent most of the time hiding under my legs.

Once we got to the top we let the dogs off the leash and began the trek down. I was so looking forward to the alpine flowers and I was not disappointed:

Here’s what the slopes look like in the summer. Awesome hike, can’t wait to go again!

  1. Ironic, paintbrush is my fav as well. Looks so pretty and like a wonderful trip. Not many people either? That’s always nice!

How fun, love you and your MM.
